FAQ

Where do these numbers come from?

They are the researched pricing defaults that power SideWRK's estimating engine — compiled from published industry pricing sources for each trade, then reconciled against our own per-trade cost-calculator models. They are national ballparks for solo and small operations, not quotes; local rates vary with market, licensing, and season.

Why do trades bill so differently?

Because the work is measured differently. Hourly billing only fits trades where time is the product (mechanics, handymen, welders). Concrete and flooring price by the square foot, roofing by the 100-sq-ft square, fences by the linear foot, junk removal by the load, and service trades like plumbing and HVAC lead with a flat service-call fee. Quoting a trade in the wrong unit is the fastest way to underbid it.

What does labor share mean?

The share of a typical ticket that pays for time rather than materials. A 100% labor-share trade like auto detailing keeps most of the ticket; a 40% trade like auto glass passes much of it through to parts and materials. Two trades with the same revenue can take home very different profit.

What should I charge for side work?

Use the billing unit your trade actually uses, then the typical rate in the table. HVAC and plumbing lead with a service-call fee. Mechanics bill hours plus parts. Quoting a trade in the wrong unit is how a weekend job gets underbid.

How do I turn these rates into an invoice?

SideWRK ships with these as estimating defaults. Open a job, tap the work, send the estimate. They approve from their phone. Start free and write one.

Does SideWRK take a cut of payment?

No. SideWRK takes no cut of a payment. SideWRK is $19/mo invoicing for side work, 5 jobs/year free, no cut of payment.

Is there a cheap invoicing app that uses these rates?

SideWRK is $19/mo invoicing for side work, 5 jobs/year free, no cut of payment. These numbers are the defaults the estimating engine starts you on. Change any of them.

Can I start free and create an estimate?

Yes. Five jobs a rolling year, no card. Write the job, send the estimate, get it approved. Past five, it is $19 a month and you pick the moment.

Are these rates for weekend side work or a full shop?

National ballparks for solo and small operations. Side work uses the same units. Your town and your license move the number; the unit rarely does.
